LEICESTER: D.Gordon Wilson,82,of 489 Main St. in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, died Monday, June 30 at his home.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Geraldine A. (McCue) Wilson, three sons David G. Wilson and his wife Cheryl, James C. Wilson and his wife Sandra and Robert F. Wilson and his wife Debra, a daughter Annmarie Montiverdi and her husband Christopher, a nephew Mark F. Wilson and his wife Marybeth and a niece Margaret Wilson both of whom were raised by Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Wilson and all of Leicester, five grand daughters Jennifer McFalls of Sturgeon Pa., Elizabeth, Kathleen and Amanda Wilson, and Paige Montiverdi all of Leicester, three grandsons Matthew Wilson, Eric and Chad Montiverdi of Leicester, a great grand daughter Alexis Wilson, many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers James, Douglas and Duncan Wilson and a sister Elizabeth Kihl.
Gordon was a machine operator for Reed & Prince Mfg. in Worcester for 32 years, retiring in 1987. He then worked for many years as a driver for Worcester Airport Limo Service.
He served his country during WWII with the U.S. Marine Corps' 5th. Division Engineers in the Pacific and the occupation of Japan (Nagasaki).
Born in New York City, he was the son of James A. and Pearl (Duncan) Wilson, and attended Leicester High School before going into the military. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Senior Citizen Club of Leicester and was custodian of the Leicester Public Library for many years. He served as a firefighter on the Leicester Fire Dept. from 1948-82. He was an avid snowmobiler and enjoyed traveling throughout the States with his wife.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, July 3 from the MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 759 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Leicester with Military Honors. Calling ***********
