Harold Robert Gregg, 78, of Bonneau Beach, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with lung cancer on Monday, June 30, 2008.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 6 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society Charleston Hope Lodge, 269 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401 843-958-0930
Mr. Gregg was born in Charleston on December 4, 1929. He attended Charleston public schools. He served in the United States Air Force from 1947-1949 and in the United States Navy from 1951-1954. He then went to work for the Charleston Naval Shipyard in the supply department, retiring after 30 years.
Harold never met a stranger----you were always a instant friend. He loved being outdoors working in his yard or out on the water fishing with friends and family. Harold won many trophies and awards for fishing.
Harold is proceeded in death by his brother Karl Gregg and also by his beloved pet, Sassy of 14 years. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mattie and his children, David Howlett and his wife Terrie of Charleston, Bobby Howlett of Charleston, Debbie Stirling and her husband Danny of Goose Creek, Kelly Bass and her husband Scott of Bonneau Beach. Sister-in-law, Karin Gregg of Berlin, Germany. Grandchildren, Kristin Howlett DuRant, Robbie Howlett, Ryan Howlett, David Howlett, Nick Bass and Taylor Bass. Great grandchildren, Amanda DuRant and Emily Howlett. Also his beloved pets, Reese, Little Bit and Juan.
