Obituary

Kenneth F. Pond, 77 of Franklin died June 30 in his home following a long illness. He was the husband of Irene (Boch) Pond.
Born in Hudson, January 3, 1931, the son of the late Arnold and Eleanor (Rogers) Pond, Mr. Pond was raised in Southboro and Marlboro and had lived in Framingham for many years before moving to Franklin 15 years ago.
Mr. Pond was a graduate of Northeastern University.
Mr. Pond had been a police officer for the Town of Framingham for 32 years before retiring.
Mr. Pond served for 44 years in the Massachusetts National Guard retiring as a Warrant Officer in 1990. Mr. Pond was a member of the Framingham Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Beth Freel and her husband, Robert of Leominster, Kevin Pond and his wife, Claire of Berlin, Cheryl Marotto and her husband, Robert of Tiverton, RI, Karen Robertson and her husband, David of Wareham, Paula Boudreau of San Diego, CA, Mark Boudreau and his wife, Nancie of Acton, Laurie Gildea and her husband, Mark of Milford and Suzanne Marchesano and her husband, Tony of O’Fallon, Ill.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, July 3 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin at 8:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Lexington.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m.
