
Jane Susan Ruger Cannon Mosher, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed from this life to more life on Saturday June 28, 2008. She was at home surrounded by her family.
Jane was born in Huntington, NY on August 14, 1946 to Henry and Dorothy Jenneman Ruger. She was predeceased by her parents, her second mother Dorothy Blackman Ruger and brothers Michael Ruger and Robert Blackman. She is survived by three brothers and their spouses Peter and Ann Ruger of St. Louis, MO, Tony Ruger and Deborah Kapp of Chicago, IL and William and Audrey Blackman of Huntington Station, NY, all of their families and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jane is also survived by her husband of 22 years Stewart Mosher of Mystic, CT, as well as her children and extended family Jennifer and Mark Raymond of Mystic, CT, Jonathan Cannon and Catherine Malone of Charlottesville, VA, Catherine Mosher of Groton, CT, and Christopher and Theresa Judge of Uncasville, CT. She is also survived by her beloved, life-bringing, joy-filled grandchildren Derek, Sean, Bryn, Hayden, Marilla, Omar and Morgan.
Jane’s life was spent in service. She recently retired as an EMT from Mystic River Ambulance where she had worked and volunteered for nearly 30 years. She was recently honored for this work with the “First Responder of the Year’ award from Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
Jane was also a strong Christian, passionate about doing God’s work. She was active in her church, including local and national involvement in Presbyterian Women, walking in the annual Mystic CROP Walk for Hunger and volunteering at a local woman’s center and the Montauk Avenue Soup Kitchen.
When she wasn’t working or volunteering she could be found in her gardens, at the beach, quilting or spending time enjoying her grandchildren.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 5-8pm. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, July 3, at 10am at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 310 Fort Hill Road, Groton, CT 06340. Internment will be at Northport Rural Cemetery, Northport, NY, at a later date.
