Leslie M. Curtis a long time resident of Winchester died peacefully Friday June 27th 2008. He was the loving husband of Mavis L (Scarfe) Curtis. Leslie was born in Albany, New York on June 25th, 1923, the son of Gerald D. and Clarie M. Curtis. Leslie attended Winchester High School and graduated from the Mount Herman School. He graduated from Norwich University after having served in the United States Army 10th Mountain Division Ski Troops during World War II. He continued his education at Tufts Dental School graduating in 1951. Leslie opened his first practice in Boston where he also worked for the New England Home for Little Wanderers. He moved his dental practice to Winchester and continued to see patients for over 50 years. Leslie was a member of the American Dental Society, the Middlesex Dental Society and was for many years the Secretary of the American Academy of Dental Science.
Leslie was an accomplished skier and enthusiastic sailor. These pleasures he joyfully shared with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Luders 33 Association.
In addition to his his wife, Mavis of 56 years, Leslie is survived by three children, Sarah J. Curtis of Winchester, Kenneth M Curtis and his wife, Ikuko of Tokyo and John H. Curtis and Karen of Beverly; also survived by three grandsons, Christopher, Roderic and Brian. Leslie was predeceased by his brother Judson B. Curtis and his sister Elizabeth Shaprut. His Memorial Service was held on Thursday July 10th 2008 at 11:00am at the Church of the Epiphany, 70 Church St., Winchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Church of the Epiphany, 70 Church St. Winchester, MA 01890.
