John W. Hoffman, 54, of New Bedford died Thursday March 6, 2003 at home. He was the son of the late Ernest and Thelma (Seger) Hoffman, and stepson of the late Jessie Hoffman.
Born in Kellogg, Idaho, he was raised in Pinehurst, Idaho, and had lived in the New Bedford area for the past 15 years.
A Vietnam veteran, Mr. Hoffman served in the U.S. Navy for 16 years aboard submarines as a gunnery sergeant, until his retirement in 1986.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include a son, John Will Hoffman, Jr. and his wife Stefani, of Lodi, California; a daughter, Sharon Hoffman of Dartmouth; a brother, Eddie Hoffman of Oklahoma; a sister, Betty Powers of Westport, Washington; and a grandson, Justin Gregory Hoffman.
A memorial gathering will be held at his late residence on Friday March 14, 2003 at 9 AM.
