A.J. Robinson, Jr., 90, of Irwin County, died June 27, 2008 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 3 P.M. Sunday, June 29, in Evergreen Cemetery, with Rev. Scott Brenton officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Robinson was born November 9, 1917, in Fitzgerald to the late Andrew Jackson and Sarah Elizabeth Tomlinson Robinson. He was a retired Captain with 24 years of service in the US Marine Corps, serving in W.W.II and the Korean War. He had lived in the community since 1958. He was a past president of the Fitzgerald Country Club and the Ocilla Lions Club. He was also a member of the Ocilla Country Club. He was a former board member of the GFA Peanut Commission. He was an avid golfer, and member of the Ocilla United Methodist Church.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Lillian Robinson of Irwin County; Son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Beth Robinson of Irwin County; 8 grandchildren: Andy, Patrick, Mathew, Scott, Sarah, Anna, Mary, and Gracie Robinson; 3 great grandchildren: Drew, Levi, and Reagan Robinson; Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
