William E. Murphy, 82, of Franklin, died, Thursday, June 26, 2008 at his home after a long illness. He was a husband of Mildred (Fagan) Murphy who died in 1997.
Born in Dorchester on October 28, 1925, he was a son of the late William and Mary (McCarthy) Murphy. Mr. Murphy was a resident of Franklin since 1959.
He grew up in Dorchester and graduated from Boston Latin High School. In 1947, he graduated form Harvard University with a Bachelor’s Degree in History.
Before his retirement, Mr. Murphy worked as a salesman. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by his children, William Murphy Jr. of Mansfield, David Murphy of Westboro, Colleen Murphy of Orleans, Kathleen Dacey of Franklin, Ken Murphy of Franklin and Christopher Murphy of DesSoto, TX and a sister, Kathryn McCabe of Needham.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Allison Murphy, Melissa, Courtney and John Dacey and Erin, Colleen, Daniel, Timothy, Steven and Patricia Murphy and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass on Monday, June 30 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.
