David A. Raitto, 82, of Maple Street died Thursday, June 26 in Mary Lane Hospital after being stricken ill.
He leaves his wife of 58 years June H. (Egner) Raitto, two sons Ric Raitto of Hubbardston and Jack Raitto of Hollis, New Hampshire, a daughter Diane Wood of New Ipswich, New Hampshire, a sister Barbara Moore of Florida, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by a brother Roger Raitto and a sister Eleanor Muto.
Mr. Raitto was born in Troy, New Hampshire son of Gustaf and Celia (Alonen) Raitto. He served in the United States Navy during WWII as an Aviation Mechanic. He was the President, Founder and Owner of Raitto Engineering & Manufacturing Co. Inc.. He was a successful inventor and patent holder. He was a member of Greenville Baptist Church in the Rochdale section of Leicester. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying his own plane.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 28 in Greenville Baptist Church, 674 Pleasant St., Rochdale at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Greenville Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Greenville Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 396, Rochdale, MA 01542.
