CLEARWATER, FL - Beatrice A. (Charette) (Desmarais) McCarthy, 81, of Clearwater, FL died June 23, 2008 in Lowell. She was the beloved wife of William J. McCarthy of Clearwater, FL, and the late Edmond H. "Jim" Desmarais who predeceased her in 1973.
Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Isabel (Misener) Charette. She was educated at St. Joseph Elementary and High schools and graduated in 1946.
Mrs. McCarthy had been employed at Hanscom Air Force Base and retired in 1985.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son James A. Desmarais and his wife Michelle of Dracut; her daughter Judith A. Erekson and her husband Roger of Clearwater, FL; a stepson Stephen P. McCarthy and his wife Linda of Methuen; four stepdaughters Colleen A. Sullivan and her husband Edward of Lowell, Mary Lou Picardi and her husband Richard of Lowell, Maureen Smith and her companion Philip Miloro of Derry, NH and Christine Neary and her husband Robert of Pelham, NH; eight grandsons James A. Desmarais Jr., Jason Smith, William Picardi, Michael Picardi, Martin DeLuca, Stephen Picardi, Sean McCarthy and Nicholas Neary; seven granddaughters Lisa Millinazzo, Courtney Mitchell, Megan Breen, Tiffany Smith, Britt Erekson, Sarah McCarthy, Moira Neary; eleven great grandchildren; one brother William J. Charette of Dracut; three sisters Mrs. John B. (Anita) McCarthy of Lowell, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Antonelli of Westford, and Mrs. Richard (Lorraine) Gilbert of Clearwater, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Francis R. Charette and sister-in-law of the late Frances Charette.
At her request there will be no calling hours. Services have been entrusted to the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave, Dracut, MA. Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be held on Monday at 10 AM at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Dracut. Those who wish to process to the church together, please meet at the funeral home on Monday at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions be made in her name to St. Mary Magdalen Church, Building Fund, PO Box 100, Tyngsboro, MA 01879.
