Alice (Aldeia) Beatriz, 91, of New Bedford died June 24, 2008 peacefully at her son's home.
She was the wife of the late Jose Beatriz.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Jose and Tereza (Raphael) Aldeia, she lived in Portugal for 30 years before returning to New Bedford in 1958.
Mrs. Beatriz was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
She was formerly employed by several local textile mills for many years until retirement.
Mrs. Beatriz enjoyed knitting caps for babies born at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her son, Jose Beatriz and his wife Kathy of Mattapoisett; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Beatriz of Margate, FL; 5 granddaughters, Teresa Richard, Cheryl Moniz, Beth, Chris and Colleen Beatriz; and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Armand Beatriz.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett Saturday, June 28th at 7:45 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, June 27th from 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Nurse and Hospice Care, P.O.
