Obituary

LOWELL - Ruth Alma (Hopkins) (Arnold) Lashua, 84, died Friday June 20th, after a lengthy illness surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Arnold Sr., and the late William Lashua.

She was born in Lowell on March 26, 1924, and was a daughter of the late Herbert and Effie (Graves) Hopkins. She received her education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Lashua was employed for many years by Raytheon Corp. in South Lowell.

She was an avid bingo player and she enjoyed trips to Foxwoods. She was also the world's biggest fan of the Boston Red Sox.

She was a member of the Pawtucket Congregation Church in Lowell.

Mrs. Lashua is survived by a son Robert E. Arnold Jr. and his wife Victoria of Oakland, Tennessee; three daughters, Ruth Martin of Dracut, Bette-Gail Strong and her husband Richard of Lowell, and June R. Whiting of Blythe, CA; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; her many step children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of the Lashua family; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by two sons-in-law, Robert Martin and Jonathan Whiting, and nine brothers and sisters.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Monday from 4 until 8 PM. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial in Westlawn Cemetery II in Lowell. Those who wish may make donations in her name to the VNA Hospice of Middlesex-East, 607 North Ave., Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
