Obituary

Halifax-Josephine M. (Wladkowski) Hennigan 87 died Friday June 20th after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Alfred J. Hennigan.

Born in Halifax she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Hubacz) Wladkowski. She was a graduate of Whitman High School.

She was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II having served as a “WAC” from 1943 to 1946.

Josephine lived in Ohio for 30 years where she was a teacher in the public school system there, before returning to Halifax in 1987 where she remained.

She was a very spiritual person, who enjoyed gardening and the outdoors and loved animals, as well as traveling. She especially enjoyed her trips to Paris.

She is survived by her children Timothy Hennigan of Boston and Teresa Carman of Halifax, her brother Edward Wladkowski of NH, her grandchildren Jacqueline, Benjamin, Christina, and David Carman all of Halifax, and her niece Lynda Melo of ME. She was the sister of the late Cynthia Wladkowski.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday June 25th at 1 PM in the Halifax Congregational Church, Plymouth Street, Halifax. Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery, Halifax. Visiting hours omitted by request of the family. Donations may be made in her name to Capital Campaign @ Halifax Congregational Church, 503 Plymouth Street, Halifax, MA 02338.
