Obituary

Mr. Walter Lewis Garner was born August 28, 1946 in Madison County. He was the son of the late John and Fannie Pulley Garner. He was called home to ultimate peace with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 20, 2008 at Huntsville Hospital. Five siblings preceded him in death: Louise Garner, Allean Garner Stewart, William Garner, Theo Garner and Leroy Garner.

He accepted Christ September 2003 under the pastorship of Elder Maurice Childress. Most of his young and adult life was spent in the Mount Lebanon Community among friends and loved ones. Lewis was a kind and generous person, he never waivered his love for his family. What you saw was what you got, he believed in honesty and truth, he would always tell it like it was, whether you liked it or not, this was the quest that made him the man that he became. Sleep on brother, you left us much too soon.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories one daughter Karen Davis of Huntsville, Alabama; four sisters, Edna G. Tibbs (James Henry), Geneva G. Hammond, Catherine G. Smith and Myrtle G. Jolly all of Toney, Alabama; five brothers, James Garner of Florida, Johnny Garner, Jr. and Edward Earl Garner both of Nashville, Tennessee, Henley Garner (Fannie) and Lorinzo Garner (Kathy) both of Huntsville, Alabama and one sister-in-law Georgia Garner of Nashville, TN; one grandson Jerome Davis; three step children; four step grandchildren; one step great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
