Argent “Penny“ (Jeha) McGarr, 67, of Westport passed away accidentally, Wednesday, June 18, 2008. She was wife of Thomas J. McGarr.
Born in Zahlah, Lebanon, daughter of the late Edmond and Nejla (Kadri) Jeha, she had lived in Westport for the past 28 years. Mrs. McGarr was a Communicant of St. Anthony of the Desert Church, Fall River and a member of the Lebanon-American Women’s Club of Fall River. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and boating, but most of all loved being with her grandchildren and hosting family and friends at her summer cottage overlooking the east branch of the Westport River.
Including her husband, she is survived by 4 sons: Eli E. Ashook of Middletown, RI, Peter A. McGarr of Westport, Paul L. McGarr of Westport and Thomas S. McGarr of Dighton; a daughter: Mindy Broadbent of Westport; a brother: George Jeha of Lebanon; a sister: Mary Rose Ammouri of Lebanon; 12 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Laure Nasri.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, June 23, 2008 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony of the Desert Church, Fall River at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Sunday 5 - 8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
