QUINEBAUG, CT – Estelle D. “Gigi” (Rouleau) Seachrist, 80, of 50 Highland Drive, died Thursday, June 19, in University of Mass. Hospital in Worcester after being stricken ill in Quinebaug. Her husband of 23 years, Wayne H. Seachrist, Jr., died in 2004.
She leaves a son, David T. Meagher and his wife Lyn of Webster; 2 daughters, Marilyn E. Kokocinski and her husband John of Webster and Donna M. Lagano and her husband Larry of Oakley, CA; a sister, Claudette Langer and her husband Bernhardt of Coatesville, PA; a step-sister, Florence Parmenter of Auburn; 11 grandchildren, Carley, Kelley, Keri, John, Jesse, Shana, Kallie, Lauren, Joseph, Jason and Renae; 7 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her son Daniel B. Meagher in 2004.
She was born and raised in Webster, a daughter of Wilfred N. and Emma H. (Darche) Rouleau. She graduated from Bartlett High School in1946. She moved to Coatesville, PA in 1972, Greenville, VA in 1984, and then to Claremont, NH. She returned to Webster in 2000.
Mrs. Seachrist was a bookkeeper at Choiniere Dairy in Webster and at St. George’s Flower & Gift Shop in Dudley. She was the secretary for the late Attorney Leonard Leboeuf. She worked for MetLife at various locations as office manager for many years before retiring.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oxford and was active in Bible study groups and church functions. She was a member, past secretary and past president of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 50 years. She enjoyed bowling individually and in leagues for over 30 years, most recently at the Auburn Ten Pin. She was an avid bridge player. She excelled at sewing and quilting, and taught others these crafts. She and her late husband grew a huge garden every year. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining her family members; she loved fussing over her children and grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Monday, June 23, at 1:00 PM in Zion Lutheran Church, 70 South Main Street, Oxford. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, June 22, in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., Webster. Instead of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 70 South Main St., Oxford, MA 01540.
