Hazel E. Davis, 96, of New Bedford died Tuesday June 17, 2008.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Clifton L. and Mary E. (Hayden) Davis, she had lived in New Bedford for many years. She was a graduate of Dorchester High School for Girls and Herricks Business Institute.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. She had been a volunteer for 13 years at St. Mary's School in the nursery and kindergarten classes.
Miss Davis had been employed as a news reader for the Boston News Clip Bureau and as a clerk/typist for the Massachusetts Division of Unemployment Compensation. In New Bedford, she was employed as a bookkeeper for the Everett H. Corson Cadillac Agency and as principal clerk for the New Bedford Department of Public Works.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart League, the Marian Associates, and the American Association of Retired Persons.
She is survived by several cousins.
She was the sister of the late Alice M. Davis.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 AM in St. Mary's Church, Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
