Kathleen (Kakie) Coe Walters of Sandwich Road in Plymouth passed away on Saturday June 14, 2008 at the Jordan Hospital.
Kathleen was born on July 24, 1919 in Dover NH. The daughter of the late Dr. Robert W. Coe and Ellen Thomas Coe, she spent most of her childhood in Brookline, MA and her summers in Wolfeboro, NH. Kathleen graduated from Brookline High School.
Kathleen graduated with a BA in English from Western Maryland College in Westminster, MD, class of 1941. It is here that she met her husband of 54 years, the late Robert L. Walters. Mr. Walters’ career with the F.B.I. took them to Chicago, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, NC. They finally settled in Plymouth in 1968.
Kathleen was a volunteer for the Plymouth Community Nurse Association and the Jordan Hospital. She was a member of the Antiquarian Society, Black and White Club, Eel River Beach Club, Jordan Hospital Club, and the Church of the Pilgrimage. She was an avid reader who enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a devoted grandmother.
In addition to her sister, Mary Phyllis “Billie” Fry of Plymouth, she is survived by her daughters, Barbara Hemphill of Charlotte, NC and Betsy Hoagland of Plymouth. She leaves five grandchildren: Ashley Bird of Baldwinville, MA; Reid Hemphill of Charlotte, NC; Nathan Hemphill of Boone, NC; Lee Hoagland of Gunnison, CO and Annie Hoagland of Plymouth. She also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were made by the Richard Davis Funeral Home in Plymouth. Burial will be private.
