Walter McDonough Croom, 87, Clarksville, formerly of Fayetteville, North Carolina, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Spring Meadows Health Care Center.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Grace Sanctuary with Chaplain Byron Dumas and Pat VanDyke officiating.
Burial will be in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery, Whiteville, N.C. on Monday. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church at the church.
Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born October 7, 1920 in Curie, N.C., son of the late William David Croom and Ruth Larkins Croom. He was preceded in death by his wife, Veda Merle Avant Croom.
Dr. Croom taught in the North Carolina Community College System for thirty years.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Jenkins (Johnny), Clarksville: a son, W.C. Croom, Cairo, Egypt; and two grandchildren, Graham Jenkins and Nathan Jenkins.
