Wilbur Ashley Carter, 84, of Charleston, husband of Dorothy Rudd Carter, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 in Hospice of Charleston in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 17, 2008 at 11 o’clock at Pinecrest Baptist Church 1285 Ashley Hall Road, Charleston.
Friends may call at the Church from 10 o’clock until the hour of service.
Burial will be in Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville at 3 o’clock Tuesday.

Mr. Carter was born November 2, 1923 in Givhans, SC, a son of the late Furman Perry Carter and Alice Woodard Carter. He was a graduate of Ridgeville High School and served in the Army during World War II serving in Germany and France where he received a Purple Heart. He was a member of Union Kilwinning Lodge #4. He was a Citadel Mall Walker. He was a Chevrolet Technician for 43 years. He was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Mark Wayne Carter, Jr., a brother Johnson Carter and a sister Myrtle Eadie.
