FRANKLIN—John L. “Johnny” Danello 73, of Franklin, died Monday, June 16, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, after being stricken ill at work earlier in the day. He was the husband of Louise P. (Racine) Danello.
Born in Milford, May 7, 1935 a son of the late Salvatore and Angie (Marcolongo) Danello, he was a lifelong Franklin resident.
Educated in Franklin schools, he was a member of the infamous Franklin High School Class of 1953, and where he was also an outstanding member of the football team.
He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in December 1957.
He worked as a salesman for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for over 25 years, and also worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. For the past 10 years he has worked for the Gilmore, Rees, Carlson and Cataldo Law Firm in Franklin as an administrative supporter.
His interests included playing cards, taking trips to Las Vegas, and Foxwoods, and any type of sporting event. John’s passion was to make people smile especially his family and grandchildren and he was a friend to all.
He was a member of the “Dizzy Dozen”; St. Mary’s Church, the Franklin Senior Citizens and was the “Mayor” of Lewis Street.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 49 years are two sons George A. Danello and his wife Nancy of Franklin and Paul A. Danello of Franklin, a sister Anita G. Lachance and her husband Raymond of Franklin, six grandchildren Sue Fernandes, Elizabeth Fernandes, Bianca Danello, Katherine Danello, Ashley Danello and Rachel Danello.
Also surviving is a great granddaughter Kylie Yadasernia.
He was the father of the late Peter A. Danello.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday, June 20, 2008 at 10:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., Franklin (www.franklinfuneral.com) with a funeral Mass at 11AM in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Sq. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
