Reilly, James F. of Houston, Texas. formerly of Marshfield, MA, died June 15, 2008 at the age of 82. He was the husband of Patricia Hoey Reilly, his wife of almost 53 years. He was the son of the late Michael and Margaret (McKenna) Reilly and grew up in Mission Hill, Boston. He is survived by his eight children: Marybeth Singer and her husband Hugh, Patricia Casey and her husband, Kevin, James Reilly and his wife, Joanne, Margaret Reilly, Geraldine Sullivan, wife of the late John L. Sullivan, Kathleen Healey and her husband John, Ann Marie Mudano and her husband, Joseph and Eileen Steward and her husband Christopher. Jim is predeceased by all of his siblings, Joseph Reilly, John Reilly, Peggy Howley, Rosie Donovan, Reverend Gerald Reilly, CSSR,Michael and Ellen Reilly.
Jim died in his home in Houston Texas where he has lived for the past four years. He was home after a brief illness and was surrounded by his beloved wife and adult children. Prior to that time, he had retired and lived in Fort Pierce, Florida where he enjoyed many good times with family and friends. He was raised in Mission Hill, Boston where he was active in the parish of Mission Church and eventually followed his older brother Gerry into the seminary. He elected to leave the seminary before his final vows and graduated from St. Mary’s College with a degree in philosophy and theology. He met Patricia shortly after she emigrated from Ireland, in 1953 and they were married in 1955. He served in the US AF until 1956 and was discharged as a Master Sergeant. He subsequently had a very successful career in defense contracting working as regional, national and international manager with United Technologies, GTE/Sylvania,LFE and as a consultant with E-systems.
Jim will be remembered as a loving and devoted family man who cherished his faith and family above all else. He was kind and generous to all who had the pleasure to know him and with his wife, opened his heart and his home to all. Jim enjoyed his many years in Marshfield, living there from 1964-1998. A good game of golf, deep sea fishing, and his infamous Fourth of July clam bakes provide many fond memories.
Mr. Reilly is lovingly survived by his grandchildren, Peter, Matthew Siobhan, Brendan, Patrick, Cory, Grace, Seamus, Katie, Meaghan, Colleen, Justine, Sarah, Ginger, Maggi, Noah, Joey, Jack, Jimmy,. and his new great grand daughter, Aine. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral from MacDonald’s Funeral Home , 1755 Ocean St. Marshfield, MA on Friday morning at 9 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 10 am. Burial will follow at Bourne National Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday from 4 to 8.
