Worcester—George “Garin” Bogoian, 81, died Thursday morning, June 12, 2008, in UMass Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. He leaves his wife of 51 years, June (Paloulian) Bogoian; son, David Bogoian of Worcester; daughter, Christine Bogoian of Worcester; son, Peter Bogoian and his wife Sandy Chiangi of Stonington, CT; and daughter, Sarah Bogoian and her husband Michael Mullen of Westborough; sister, Mary Alemian of W. Newton; three grandchildren, Michael, Wilhelmina, and Antonia; and several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Elsie Evangelista.
George was born in Worcester, son of Sarah (Dadian) and Bedros Bogoian, on June 17, 1926. His parents came to America from the small village of Tadem in ancestral Armenia. George was a graduate of Commerce High School and attended Clark University. He was an Army Air Force veteran of WWII. He served in the Merchant Marines after his military service. He loved music and played the trumpet in high school and during his time in the service. George had a passion for nature and the outdoors. As a young parent he enjoyed camping with his children, nieces, and nephews. Later in life George enjoyed many happy years tending his garden on Cape Cod and sharing the summers with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Armenian Apostolic Holy Trinity Church, on Tuesday, June 17, at 11:00 a.m. A calling hour will be held from 9:30-10:30 prior to the funeral at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Armenian Apostolic Holy Trinity Church, 635 Grove Street, Worcester MA 01605.
