Obituary

Ilda (Lobo) Duarte, 66, of New Bedford died Tuesday June 10, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Manuel J. Duarte.

Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of Benvinda (Duarte) Lobo of New Bedford and the late Joao A. Lobo , she lived in New Bedford since 1969.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

Mrs. Duarte was formerly employed as an inspector at Cliftex Clothing.

Survivors include her mother; two children, John Duarte of New Bedford and Ginny Pavao of New Port Richey, FL; five brothers, Antonio Lobo, Joao "John" Lobo, Jr., Manuel Lobo, Joaquim "Jack" Lobo, and Victor Lobo, all of New Bedford; a sister, Ecilda Baptista of New Bedford; three grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
