Obituary

William J. “Happy” Hayles, Jr, age 86, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, MS. He was born July 26, 1921 in Yalobusha County to the late William J. and Mamie Lee Champion Hayles, Sr. He was a self-employed auto mechanic, Partner in Camp & Hayles Motor Co., and Mechanic for the City of Water Valley for 20 years. Happy served in WWII in the United States Army and was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church of Water Valley, MS.

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 14, 2008 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The service will be held in the Henry Chapel at Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2008. The committal service will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Dickey Hayles of Water Valley, MS; a daughter, Alice Faye Chittom of Madison, MS; a son, William Quay “Butch” Hayles of Water Valley, MS; a brother, Elmer Lee Hayles of Huntly, IL; four grandchildren, Stephanie Hunt of Madison, MS, Natalie McKee of Brandon, MS, Amanda Pagels of Celle, Germany, and Melissa Sabin of Brison City, NC; and five great grandchildren, Alicia Hayles of Courtland, MS, Aubrey Kurts of Marion, NC, London Hunt of Madison, MS, Parker Hunt of Madison, MS and Amber Blakney of Brandon, MS

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alberta Hayles and four brothers, Lucias Carlton “Tim” Hayles, Morris Denton “Buster” Hayles, Claud Hayles, and Charles Bennett Hayles.
