SALEM - Robert W. Curwen, 86, husband of the late Stasia (Kobuszewski) Curwen, of Peabody, formerly of Salem, died at his residence, Tuesday, June 10, 2008, following a long illness.
Born in Brockton, son of the late Richard B. & Helen M. (Frohock) Curwen, he attended Salem Schools, was a graduate of Salem High School and the Wentworth Institute of Technology. He was a resident of Salem for most of his life until moving to Peabody in 2002.
An Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII, he was a member of the American Legion, Post 23 in Salem.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for over 34 years as an engineer at the General Electric Company in Lynn. In conjunction with is work, he attended the New England Aircraft School and took courses at the University of Minnesota.
Mr. Curwen was a lifelong member of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where he served in many capacities including vestryman, clerk, lay reader, treasurer and pledge secretary.
He is survived by his devoted and caring sister-in-law, Theresa K. LeBel, his much loved niece, Dr. Alyssa Ann LeBel - Kaye, a sister-in-law, Alice Kielbasa and several great nieces and great nephews including Dimitri Kaye.
His family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care provided by the staff at Sunrise at Gardner Park and the by the caring concern of The Hospice of the North Shore.
His funeral service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 11 am at the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Salem. A visitation will be held from prior to the service, from10 to 10:45 am at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
