John K. Gribok, 85, of Manchester, NH, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 in the Hanover Hill Healthcare Center, Manchester. Mr. Gribok was born in Lawrence, MA on January 1, 1923, a son of the late Karol and Maria (Berezniski) Gribok. He was a resident of Hanover Hill for the past two years, a resident of Derry for 10 years and had lived in Florida for 10 years and Salem, NH for 30 years. He graduated from Lawrence schools, Salem NH High school and also graduated from ICS Correspondence School. Mr. Gribok served with the Army Air Force during WWII. He worked as a draftsman for different companies and also worked as a part time bartender at various places as well as the Rockingham racetrack. He belonged to the American Legion, the D.A.V., the bartender’s union and the Salem and Methuen Senior Centers. Mr. Gribok enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling and taking walks with his wife to stay fit. He also enjoyed carpentry and building furniture. He will be remembered as a gentle, mild mannered man who was a good father.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anne Marie (Roy) Gribok of Hooksett, NH, a son, John Stephen Gribok and his wife Lucie of Shelton, CT, two daughters, Karen Fitzgerald and her husband Dennis of Derry, Gwendolyn A. Lipari and her husband Robert of Londonderry, NH, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one niece and two nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Philip and Stephen Kubara.
Visiting hours were held Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from 4-8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10:00am Thursday, June 12th in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. The burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry.
