Obituary

Elsie Brogdon Barrentine, 86, of Tifton, formerly of Nashville, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2008, at the United Methodist Church of Alapaha. Rev. Jack Smithwick will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Her grandsons, Chris Barrentine, Randy Hooley, Jody Bannister, James Watson, Jason Watson, Seth Eddy, Devan Barrentine and Ben Roberts will serve as pallbearers. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 12, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mrs. Barrentine was born on January 15, 1922 in Berrien County and was the daughter of Ed Brogdon and Alice Tucker Brogdon, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eutychus Eural Barrentine; one brother, Vernice Brogdon; and three sisters, Maudine Sims, Annette Bradley and Mildred Powell. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church of Alapaha.

Mrs. Barrentine is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Earl Barrentine and his wife, Patricia, of Nashville, and Joe Ed Barrentine of Nashville; two daughters and their husbands, Joanna and Jimmy Watson of Nashville, and Alice and Max Eddy of Madison, Alabama; one brother, Edison Brogdon of Gainesville; one sister, Euretha Harper of Tifton; ten grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
