William S. “Bill” Chamberlain, 90, of Whitman, died Monday June 9th in the Colony House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Abington, after a period of declining health. He was a native of East Bridgewater and moved to Bridgewater when he married in 1941 to the late Bertha L (Hansler) Chamberlain, and since 1947 was a resident of Whitman. He was the youngest of ten children born to Charles R. and Elizabeth (Hammond) Chamberlain of East Bridgewater. He attended East Bridgewater High School and the Quincy Welding School. Mr. Chamberlain retired in 1978 from the General Dynamics (Fore River Shipyard) Electric Boat Division, where he was a nuclear welder.
His survivors include his son Charles F. Chamberlain of Greenville, NC , his daughter Carolyn E. Chamberlain of Whitman; two granddaughters Gabrielle E Storey of Greenville, NC. And Pamela C. Chamberlain-Knight of Portland, ME.; a great-granddaughter Chloe Knight of Portland, ME., his sister Elizabeth C. Humble of Abington; also numerous nieces and nephews.
His services will be held Friday June13th at 1:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Hanover Center Cemetery, Hanover. Visitation will be held Thursday June 12th from 2-4 & 7-9. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorial donations to either Whitman United Methodist Church, 503 South Ave., Whitman, MA. 02382 or to the Whitman Council On Aging, P.O. Box 426, Whitman, MA. 02382. The family also wishes to express gratitude to the nurses and staff a Kindred Health Care’s Colony House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Abington, MA , for their loving and devoted care.
