Obituary

Richard D. Wagner, 85, of New Bedford and Odessa, FL, died June 10, 2008 at home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Ruth E. (Minor) Wagner.
Born and raised in Clinton, CT, the son of the late John C. and Beatrice (Parsons) Wagner, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
Mr. Wagner was formerly employed as a private yacht captain in Miami until retirement. Prior to that, he was a commercial fisherman out of the port of New Bedford.
He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Survivors include 3 sons, Thomas Wagner and his wife Janice of Mattapoisett, Terrance Wagner and his wife Gail of Attleboro and Kevin Wagner and his wife Jodi of Smithfield, RI; a sister, Patricia McCarthy of Old Lyme, CT; 5 grandchildren, Melissa, Michelle, Thomas, Jr., Kyle and Ryan; several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Richard Wagner, Jr. and Jay B. Wagner, and brother of the late John Wagner, Jr. and Michael Wagner.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Saturday, June 14th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Holy Name of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Westport. Visiting hours Friday, June 13th from 7-9 PM.
