Augusta, Maine – Isobel M. “Irene” (Gadsby) Packer, 95, years of age died Friday at the Glenridge Nursing Home.
Mrs. Packer born in Balloch, Scotland April 29, 1913 daughter of Thomas and Mary (Skelley)Gadsby. She moved to Lawrence as a child with her family. Isobel was a graduate of Lawrence High School.
Mrs. Packer had been a longtime resident of Methuen before moving to Maine. For many years she was employed as a Tax Examiner with the Internal Revenue Service in Andover, Ma.
Prior to its closing Isobel was a member of the Trinity Congregational Church in Lawrence, and the Rebecca Lodge of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Packer did extensive traveling, and according to her family was quite artistic. She enjoyed painting, and was very talented with crocheting, knitting, and sewing.
Mrs. Packer was the widow of Edwin Packer, and is survived by two daughters, Rebecca J. and her husband Robert J. True formerly of Methuen and now in Round Pond, Maine, and Mary Louise and her husband John K. Twigg of Orlando, Florida, and Round Pond, Maine, survivors also include 7 grandchildren many greatgrandchldren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Round Pond, Maine at a later date.
