Mary L. (McGovern) Beaton, 85, a resident of Winchester for over 60 years, passed away on June 9th at Beverly Hospital after a short illness. Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Anne (Forbes) McGovern. Mary was a 1940 graduate of St. Charles High School in Woburn. A homemaker, she was the beloved wife for 56 years of the late Richard W. Beaton until his passing in 2004. Mary was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s Church in Winchester, where served for many years as a member of the Ladies Sodality. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family in West Harwich, Cape Cod. She was the loving mother of Richard G. Beaton and his wife Lucia of Wakefield and MaryAnn Beaton of Salem. She was also the dear grandmother of Matthew, Daniel and Joseph Beaton, and the sister of Ruth A. Soles of Harwichport and the late William McGovern, Jr. Her Funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Thurs. June 12th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 10AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
