Helen Woidyla, 89, a resident of Pine Hill Retirement Home in Windham, formerly of Methuen, MA passed away on May 19th at Parkland Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born in Bradley’s Brook in Haverhill, MA on Nov. 14, 1918, the daughter of the late John & Frances (Pirog) Woidyla. She was educated in the Haverhill School System, entering the work force shortly after as an employee of the Wood Mills in Lawrence. Upon closure of the Mill, she became an employee of Western Electric, a branch of Bell Systems, now Lucent Technologies. Helen retired from Western Electric after 25 years of service. Helen soon found retirement was not for her and joined the staff at the Nevins Nursing Home in Methuen, retiring at age 80.
Helen was the wife of the late Stephen Sierpina. She was the sole survivor of her immediate family which included Sophie, Victoria, Marja, Anthony, Albert, Michael, Steven, Joseph, Frank, Peter and Rudolph.
Helen leaves a daughter Victoria Litchfield and her husband Leon of Hereford, AZ, a grandson Stephen and two great-grandchildren Sabrina and Caleb of Denver, CO as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be Friday June 13th at 11AM at Eternal Light Mausoleum in Salem, NH. Arrangements are by the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
