Winnisquam- Richard “Dick” Arthur Lauziere died suddenly of heart failure on February 20, 2008 at his winter home in Ruskin, Florida. Born October 4, 1940 in Concord, New Hampshire, he was 67 years of age.
Richard attended high school in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. In 1957 he enlisted in the United States Army Military Police Corps. During his 23 years of service he received many medals and honors. His many duty stations include two tours in Korea, two tours in Germany, and stateside assignments in Colorado, Alabama, Rhode Island, North Dakota, and Utah. It was from Salt Lake City, Utah that he retired in 1980.
He and his family returned to Winnisquam, New Hampshire where he started Lauziere’s Security and Private Investigation Agency. One of his accounts was the M/S Mount Washington. In 1988 he became part of their crew. For the past 20 years he has served as Chief Engineer on the “Mount” and as a Skipper on the Doris-E. Richard was very proud to not only have his wife join the crew but also a daughter and four grandchildren, three of whom were his deck crew on the Doris-E.
Richard was a life member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks #876, a member of the National Association of Chiefs of Police, the American Society for Industrial Security, the American Military Association, the American Legion, and the National Gold Wing Riders Association. He enjoyed life to the fullest with his family, participating in camping trips mostly in Alabama and Europe. He also loved hunting, fishing, motorcycle rides, swimming, and working on cars.
Richard is predeceased by his father, Marcel Lauziere of Santa Barbara, California; his mother, Barbara (Wright) Malandrino of Dunedin, Florida; a grandson, Zachery Carter of El Paso, Texas.
Richard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gail E. (Harriman) Lauziere of Winnisquam; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jeremy Ambrose of Meredith and their children Krystie, Nicole, Amanda, Kayla, Alyssa; one son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Angela Lauziere of Grifton, North Carolina and their children Talon, Travis, and Tiana; daughter Pamela Lauziere and her son Joshua of Holly Springs, North Carolina; brother Charles B. Lauziere, and two nephews, Ricky and Michael Lauziere all of Fairfield, California; two uncles, Eugene Lauziere of Oregon, and Wallace Wright of Florida; great-granddaughter Jayda; two step grandsons Chris and David. Two great-nephews and many cousins also survive Richard.
Funeral Services were on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 300 NH Rte.25, Meredith at 10:00 a.m.
