Rene Joseph Soucy, 80, of Manchester, NH, died June 7, 2008 at a local healthcare facility after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Sidney, ME, on November 26, 1927, the son of Albert and Edith (Cloutier) Soucy. Rene joined the US Navy at the age of 17 and was a seaman first class. He had served on the U.S.S. Sampson, NY. He served in the Philippines and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the American Area Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal.
Members of his family include his wife of 60 years, Alberta (MacLean) Soucy of Manchester; five children, Sheila Soares of Manchester, Valerie Daigle of Canada, Russell Soucy of Manchester, Delilah Guillemette of Manchester, and David Soucy of Clearwater, FL; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four sisters, Gloria, Theresa, Rose, and Connie; two brothers, John and Arthur.
He was predeceased by sisters Ann and Albertine, as well as by brothers Roger, George, and Herman.
