Mary E. (Carroll) MacInnes, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at The Everett Nursing & Rehabilitation in Everett following a lengthy illness. She was 79 years old.
Mary was born in Boston on May 3, 1929. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools. For many years of her life, Mary has been a very active participant in many organizations and support groups in Charlestown. Mary was a member of The Bunker Hill Tenants Task Force, C.H.A.D., Bunker Hill Day Parade Committee. She was on the advisory board for The Bunker Hill Health Center, involved with the Life Focus Center, The Kennedy Center, Kit Clark and The Community Schools. During the era of forced busing in Boston, Mary stood up along with many others for the children and students of Charlestown fighting for thier right to attend the school of thier own choice.
Mary is the wife of the late Jack MacInnes. She is the devoted mother of Patrick MacInnes of Somerville, John of Boston, Tish and Carlos Carmona of Medford, David MacInnes of Portland, Maine, Liz MacInnes of Medford, Catherine and Janice McGill of Chelsea, Richard MacInnes of East Boston and Danny MacInnes of East Boston. She is the loving grandmother of Tricia, Shannyn, Meaghann, Maria and the late Elizabeth and Stephanie. She is the beloved sister of Joseph "Sonny" Carroll of Stoneham, Richard Carroll of Montana and Kevin Carroll of Salem.
Mary's Funeral will be held on Saturday June 7, 2008 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Mary are on Friday June 6, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
