Obituary

Corporal Timothy A. Baker Cornell, 24, of New Bedford died unexpectedly on Tuesday June 3, 2008.

Born in Providence, the son of Dennis P. and Rachel (Young) Cornell, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Mr. Cornell was employed by Hallsmith Sysco Food Services.

He was a graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School, Class of 2003. He served two tours of duty with the U.S. Marine Corps during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004-2007.

He enjoyed playing pool and spending time with family and friends. He lived life to the fullest and liked making people smile.

Survivors include his parents; his girlfriend, Tara Freitas of New Bedford; a brother, Joshua Baker of New Bedford; three sisters, Mandy Baker, Tara Baker, and Brittany Cornell, all of New Bedford; his maternal grandmother, Rita Young of New Bedford; his best friend, Nathan Ferreira of New Bedford; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was the grandson of the late Robert and Teresa Cornell, and the late Roland E. Young.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
