Phyllis E. (Howard) Ryan, 89 of Mattapoisett died March 3, 2003 at home after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late John F. Ryan and daughter of the late Harry L. and Nellie (Mahoney) Howard.
Mrs. Ryan was born in Wapole and lived in Walpole most of her life before moving to Mattapoisett in 1985.
She was a member of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church.
Mrs. Ryan was formerly employed as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Walpole schools. She was a 50 year member of the Walpole Footlighters, a member of the Norfolk Mental Health Council, a trustee of the Walpole Scholarship Foundation and a member of the Mattapoisett Historical Society.
Survivors include a son, John Howard Ryan, and his wife Judith Mensh-Ryan, of Vienna, VA; a daughter, Patricia Pytte, and her husband Erling Pytte, of South Salem, NY; 9 grandchildren, Katherine, Carolyn, John, Geoffrey, Bruce, Jeremy, Rebecca, Joel and Noah; 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service in the Mattapoisett Congregational Church Saturday March 15th at 11 AM.
Visiting hours are omitted and burial will be private.
