Obituary

Albert “Rabby’ Rabinovitz of Peabody died on June 2nd, 2008 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House at age 86 years old. He was the devoted husband of the late Edith “Giddy” (Belostock).

“Rabby” was born in Chelsea where he attended the Chelsea schools and high school. He was the retired owner of the Shoe Bar in Boston, MA. “Rabby” was a devoted family man whom adored his late wife and children. He was also an avid sports fan who especially loved to cheer on the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was an active member of Congregation Tifereth Israel of Everett.

“Rabby” was the devoted father of Arlene Belson and her husband Donald of Beverly, Hollie Williamson and her husband Robert of Danvers, and Ina Rossman of Danvers. He was the dear brother of Edward Rabin of Everett and Betty Shapiro of Canton. “Rabby” was the loving grandfather of Marissa, Lindsay and Jared Belson; Sean, Jaime, Craig, and Ashley Williamson; and Andrew and the late Alisa Rossman. He was the loving great grandfather of Colby Barron. Albert “Rabby” was very devoted to his entire family and loved life to the fullest despite his blindness in later years. He will be greatly missed by his daughters and all who know him.

Services at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., (Cary Sq.) Chelsea on Wednesday, June 4th at 1:00 PM. Interment in Everett. Rabbi Robert Goldstein of Andover will officiate. Memorial observance at his late residence in Peabody on Wednesday following the interment until 8:00 PM, Thursday 1:00 – 8:00 PM, and Friday 1:00 – 8:00 PM. Donations in Albert’s memory may be made to Congregation Tifereth Israel, 34 Malden St., Everett, MA 02149; or the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923; or to the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, 48 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02116.
