Obituary

Gurtha Loraine Hogue, 85, Clarksville, died Monday, June 2, 2008, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. John Hester officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born October 13, 1922 in Dickson, TN daughter of Elgie Waynick and Lula Brown Hankins Waynick. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, George Wallace Hogue, Sr, a son, George Wallace, Jr., and three daughters, Judy Carol Estes, Helen Louise McLean, and Hazel Marie Cook. She was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church and voluntered as a foster grandparent for fifteen years. Survivors include a daughter, Linda K. Stallard (Mike), Clarksville; a step-son, E.T. Hogue, Lake City, FL; a brother, G. L. Waynick, Nashville; three sisters, Dot Hollis, Nashville; Shirley Thompson, Nashville; and Myrtel McGuire; ten grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren and soon-to-be great-great grandchild in Mass. Pallbearers will be Carl Heaton, Brian Heaton, Michael Stallard, Mike Durant, Larry McLean, and Michael Heaton. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Cook, Larry Joe McLean, and Dale McLean. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Antioch United Methodist Church, 2575 Antioch Church Road, Clarksville, TN 37040.
