Obituary

James C. Smith, 92 years of Brockton died Sunday June 1, 2008 at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was born in Laurens, South Carolina and raised in Kernersville, North Carolina, where his father was a farmer. During WW II he served in the Army Air Corps and was stationed stateside. Following his discharge he settled in the Boston area and has been a resident of Brockton for over 30 years. At the age of 87 he retired as a salesman for Electrolux Vacuum. Previously he was a self employed installer of Security Systems. He was involved in politics and a staunch supporter of Republican politics. Mr. Smith was an active member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Brockton. He was the youngest of eight children.

He is survived by his longtime friend, Rev. Jack Beals and his family of East Bridgewater.


Funeral Service at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday at 9am. Interment at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11am.
