Sidney W. MacRae, 84, of Medway, died, Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the Pond Home in Wrentham. He was the husband of Shirley (Bradley) MacRae who died in 1997.
Born in Framingham on October 4, 1923, he was the son of the late Ralph A. and Hazel (Woods) MacRae. Mr. MacRae was a resident of Medway since 1952. He graduated from Monson High School in 1942 and the American International College in 1950, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
Mr. MacRae was WWII Navy veteran, mainly serving in the South Pacific and attaining the rank of Aviation Radioman, 1st class.
He retired in 1987 from Tennessee Gas Transmission Co. in Hopkinton where he worked for 35 years as a measurement technician.
Mr. MacRae was a member of the Community Church of West Medway. He was also very active in the local and district level of the Boy Scouts for many years serving as a Scout Master and also as a district commissioner.
Over the past few years, Mr. MacRae enjoyed creating his own greeting cards.
He is survived by two sons, Bruce C. MacRae and his wife, Marlene of Palmer, and Earl R. MacRae and his wife, Patricia of Blackstone, a daughter, Christine M. Lee and her husband, Arthur of Medway, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was brother of the late William MacRae.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday, June 5 at 11 a.m. at the Community Church of West Medway, 193 Main St. in Medway. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in West Medway.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.
