BEVERLY: Robert H. “Bob” McEachern, 80, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, May 29, 2008 in the Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of Helen (Swanson) McEachern.
Born in Salem on August 12, 1927, he was the son of the late John R. and Ruth A. (Hobbs) McEachern. He was educated in the Salem schools and moved to Beverly in 1950. In 1982 he had moved to East Wakefield, NH and returned to Beverly in 2002. He and his wife also enjoyed many years wintering in Briny Breezes, Florida.
Bob was employed as a firefighter for the City of Beverly for thirty years before retiring as a Captain in 1982. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
In addition to his wife of fifty-seven years, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert S. and Rosemary T. (Borsetti) McEachern of Beverly, a daughter and son-in-law, Sheron A. and Lawrence M. Restuccia of Henniker, NH, six grandchildren, Lawrence R. and his wife, Cody Restuccia of Weare, NH, Christopher G., Mark T., Brian J. and Beth A. Restuccia all of Henniker, NH and Ashlen B. McEachern of Beverly, two great-grandchildren, Tyler Z. and Nathan D. Restuccia both of Weare, NH, a sister, Ruth A. and her husband, E.J. Leonard of Bettendorf, IA, two brothers-in-law, Henry C. and his wife, Ginger Swanson of Topsfield and Carl E. Swanson of Long Beach, CA and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother, Phillip McEachern.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in the St. John the Evangelist Church, New Balch St., Beverly at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
