Beloved mother of David and wife Marjorie and Barry and wife MaryJane, grandmother to Debbie Millikan (Ron), Caroline Cooke and Timothy Cooke and great-grandmother to Genevieve and Jeremy Duran, sister to Robert(Ellen) and Edward(Ruth) Williams and the late Elizabeth(Russell)Williams.
Eleanor was born to Horace and Mildred Williams, of the ‘Old Mystic General Store and Merchandise’ in Mystic in August 1923 and raised in Old Mystic.
Her father taught her to play golf as a young girl at the Old Mystic golf course. Her love of the game continued throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, traveling, reading and entertaining friends and family.
After finishing junior college she met and married R.C. Cooke of southeast Texas.
She moved to Long Island with her husband and two sons in 1949. Upon retirement from the N.Y. State education system in 1978, she and her husband moved to Virginia Beach.
In 2001 Eleanor relocated to the Westminster Retirement Community in Woodbridge VA. Eleanor was a life long member and active in the Presbyterian Church. Eleanor was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church.
She will be laid to rest next to her beloved R.C. at Elm Grove cemetery in Mystic, Connecticut.
