Mr. Dominic C. Serra, age 81 of Medford, died Tuesday in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Medford. Beloved husband of Maria (Giangregorio) Serra with whom he shared more than 52 years of marriage. Mr. Serra was born in Boston, son of the late Giusseppe and Vincenzina (Macaluso) Serra, He served in the Coast Guard during WWII. He worked as a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service for many years.
Mr Serra was a member of the American Legion and the Malden Moose. He was a life member of the Greater Boston Assoc. of Retarded Citizens and was an avid gardener who loved taking long rides. He also enjoyed occasional trips to Foxwoods and was the consummate collector of stamps and coins. He will be remembered as a “Jack of all trades” with an uncanny ability to fix most anything including clocks.
In addition to his wife he leaves a son, John Serra of Everett and his wife Maria, 2 daughters, Donna Serra-Moore of Medford and her husband Harold, father and “lovebug” of Gina Serra of Medford. Loving grandfather of Sofia and Stella Serra; Step Grandfather of Jennifer, Victor, Kristine and Brian Moore. Step Great Grandfather of Devony, Kristen. A.J, Lexi, Jarrod and Kayla. Loving brother of Frank Serra and the late Emmanuel Serra. Dear nephew of Dolly Osborne, Anna Serra, Frank and Angelo Macaluso. Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Friday at 10 am. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 – 8 pm. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
