Bruno F. “Socksy” DiCecco, 92, of Franklin, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Royal Nursing Home in Falmouth. He was the husband of Ann (Jazyshyn) DiCecco who died in 2005.
Born in Franklin on October 17, 1915, he was a son of the late Domenic and Josephine (Verna) DiCecco. Mr. DiCecco was a resident of Falmouth for the past 5 years and formerly resided in Franklin for most of his life. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1934 and the former Hill College in RI.
Mr. DiCecco was a Marine Corp veteran of WWII.
Before his retirement, he was a salesman at Bouvier Furniture Co. in Woonsocket, RI for 50 years. He was also the owner of the former DiCecco Furniture in Franklin for 10 years during the 1950’s.
Mr. DiCecco was a former housing commissioner on the Franklin Housing Authority for 20 years and had served as chairman. He was a member of the Franklin Knights of Columbus, Sacred Hearts Council #1847 and was one of the founders of the Fletcher Field Little League in Franklin. Mr. DiCecco loved spending time working around his yard.
He is survived by his children, Michael F. of Millville, Elizabeth M. Grimes of Verona, NJ, James B. of E. Falmouth, John J. of Mendon and AnnFrances DiCecco-Giardini of Franklin, a sister, Elizabeth DiCecco of Franklin and a brother, Emanuele “Bow” DiCecco of Milford. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was a brother of the late Mary Allegrini, Florence Arcudi and Oscar, Guistino, Donald, Armond and Emanuele DiCecco.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday, May 28 at 8:15 a.m. from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St., Franklin, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m.
