Billy `Bill` Cook Dortch, 71, Clarksville, died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Centennial Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clarksville First Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Freeman and Rev. Jeff Stockdale officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm today at the funeral home and from 10 am until the hour of the service Saturday at the church. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born September 8, 1936 in Stewart County, TN son of the late Carl Dortch and Elizabeth Cook Dortch. Mr. Dortch was employed by State of Tennessee Department of Transportation. He was a member of Clarksville First Baptist Church and was on the executive committee of the Republican Party. Survivors include his wife, Soula Halliburton Dortch; three daughters, Sheila Stockdale (Jeff), Starke, FL; Kimberly Perry, Panama City Beach, FL; and Susan Shelton (Dennis), Panama City, FL; six brothers, Carl M. Dortch, Granite City, IL; Neil Dortch, Clarksville; Pat Dortch, Palmyra, TN; Steve Dortch, Tennessee Ridge, TN; Kenny Dortch and Mark Dortch, Dover, TN; eight sisters, Lucille Murray, Joyce Hedrick and Sandi Pigg, Clarksville; and June Mahoney, Jefferson City, MO; Ann Buchanan, Woodlawn, TN; Bobbi Jo Summers, Indian Mound, TN; Sue Coakley, Erin, TN; Phyllis Dortch, Dover, TN; six grandchildren, Emily Stockdale Woodall (Brian); Ashley Stockdale Dennis (Jason); Bethany Stockdale; and Payton, Allie, and Andrew Shelton; and two great-grandchildren, Hadley and Avery Woodall.He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Dortch and two sisters, Maxine Unger and Frankie Dortch. His brothers will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Dwight Dickson and Lib Laida Sunday School classes.
