AUBURN-Paul J. Curran, 81, formerly of 34 Upland Street, died Saturday, March 1st in Sunbridge of Millbury. His wife, Mary E. (Murphy) Curran died in 1991. He leaves 3 cousins, Fr. Robert Hoey, S.J. of Weston, Marie Cherry of Worcester and Dorothy Oslowski of Longmeadow. His daughter, Mary Ellen Sheridan died in 1983 and his sister, Nancy Delaney died in 1992.
He was born in Worcester the son of Joseph and Mary (Fitzgerald) Curran and had lived many years in Auburn. He was a Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Curran was a TV repairman for Vinny’s TV for many years before retiring. He was a founding member of North American Martyrs Church and served as an usher for 40 years. Mr. King was very involved in Auburn Town politics and was the longest serving town meeting officer, he was also on the Auburn Board of Registrar of Voters for 30 years, serving as it's commissioner for most of those years. Mr. Curran served on the Democratic Town Committee and was a recipient of their life time achievement award. He was chairman of the Pakachoag Oversight Committee for 20 years and was also the commissioner of the Elm Hill Civic Club.
The funeral will be Tuesday, March 4th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a mass at 11:00 AM in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be from 9:30 until 10:30 AM on the morning of the funeral.
