Norma D. Malloy

TEWKSBURY - Norma D. (Copithorne) (MacDonald) Malloy, age 88, a retired
resort owner, died peacefully, Tuesday, May 20th at the Tewksbury home of her
daughter, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the
late Harold "Younger" MacDonald, and later, the late Robert M. Malloy.
She was born in Medford, on September 25, 1919, a daughter of the late John
and Mabel (Davis) Copithorne. She was raised in Somerville, and graduated
from Somerville High School. She moved to Tewksbury in 1956, then to
Gloucester in 1971 until her retirement. Since her retirement, she had been a
winter resident of Deerfield Beach in Florida.
In her earlier career, she worked as a waitress in Harvard Square. In her later
career, she was owner and manager of the Atlantis Motor Inn in Gloucester.
She was recalled by her family as an "Award Wining" gardener, who contributed
to the visual improvement in Gloucester, and later for the beautification of the
Cove Beach Club in Florida.
She is survived by six children, Carol (MacDonald) LaLiberte and her husband
Joseph, Jeanne (MacDonald) Aylward and her husband Robert all of Tewksbury,
David Malloy of Lincoln, Kathleen (Malloy) Callahan and her husband Jack of
Lexington, Maureen Malloy of Gloucester, Judy Malloy of Boynton Beach, FL;
two daughters-in-law, Patricia MacDonald of Shirley, and Lee Seeckts of
Lincoln; a sister, Jean Tatosian of Hudson, NH; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen
great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also mother of the late Bruce MacDonald, Robert Malloy and James
Malloy; and sister of the late Wilber "John" Copithorne, Herbert Copithorne, Lois
Russell, Mabel Fecitt, and Maddie Conley.
Her Funeral Service was held Saturday, May 24 in the
funeral home. Burial followed
in Seaside Cemetery, Gloucester. Memorials may be made to the Merrimack Valley V.N.A.
