Mr. John M. Melia, 76, a resident of North Andover, MA., passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.
Born in Lowell, MA., Mr. Melia was educated in the Methuen Schools and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence. He had worked at Western Electric for some 32 years where he retired as a supervisor. Mr. Melia devoted his life to his grandchildren following his retirement. A United States Army Veteran, Mr. Melia served with the 82nd Airborne during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Julian Stopyra Post where he served as the Post's softball coach for many years. Me. Melia was also a member of the Lawrence Knights of Columbus, Council #67. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and Frank Sinatra as well as his daughter, son-in-law, and his grandchildren.

his daughter: Elizabeth A. Bonenfant and her husband Robert A. of North Andover, MA.
grandchildren: Jason, Brigette, Katelyn and Cassandra Bonenfant, all of North Andover.
sisters: Frances Fischer of Salem, N.H., and Maureen Hartnett and her husband Robert of Greenfield, N.H.
a brother-in-law: Boyce Foster of Salem, N.H.
a great aunt: Nora Curtik of North Andover, MA., as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Melia was also brother to the late Anne Marie Foster and Patricia Audiss.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack St., North Andover, MA.
Burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery, also in North Andover. Family and Friends may call today from 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
